OFFICE OF CATHOLIC SCHOOLS

Within the Department of Formational Ministries the Superintendent and the Office of Catholic Schools staff are charged with the responsibility to oversee the operation of all educational institutions of the Diocese of Jackson which consists of three early childhood learning centers, seventeen elementary schools, and four secondary schools.  The goal is to assist each school and center to achieve its mission and purpose by planning coordinating and guiding it in the areas of school personnel, curriculum, and administration.

Our Catholic Schools are living Christian communities where students are encouraged and supported to reach the fullness of their potential spiritually, intellectually, aesthetically, emotionally, socially and physically. 

The mission is realized through faculties who will nurture in students:

  • a striving to develop basic Christian attitudes and values within the context of the Catholic tradition
  • the acquisition of academic skills necessary for contemporary society
  • a facility in adapting to change
  • an openness to progressive techniques
  • the development of inquiring minds, adept at critical thinking
  • a striving to possess reverence for themselves as well as for all peoples
